Proceedings launched against two journalists

A spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) announced that the investigation security agency on May 12 took legal proceedings against two former police officers and two journalists on charge of breach of laws in relation to the Project Management Unit (PMU) 18 case.

Newspapers likely to be free in the future

Newspapers seeking to compete with the Internet are likely to become free and place greater emphasis on comment and opinion in the future, a survey of the world's editors showed. The report, conducted by Zogby International for the World Editors Forum and Reuters, revealed that newspaper editors were still optimistic about the future of their publications but believed they would have to adapt further for the digital age.

Journalism Training: Money for nothing?

About ten years ago, only a few people went abroad to study journalism and communications each year while most of Vietnamese journalists were not trained professionally. Then foreign organisations rushed in to fill the gap with many courses in and out the country. Hundreds of thousands dollars, maybe several million, have been poured into these programs, but they did not seem to work.
